Steve Rotheram

Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor, Liverpool City Region

Steve was elected Metro Mayor for the Liverpool City Region in May this year. He had started his own business by the age of 22, then held several positions in the construction industry as well as pursuing formal qualifications in higher education. Steve followed in his father’s footsteps in when he became a Liverpool City Councillor in 2002. He served as Lord Mayor of Liverpool in 2008 when Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture.

In 2010 Steve was elected MP for Walton and was re-elected in 2015, with the strongest majority in the country. As an MP, Steve worked on Select Committees Committees and All-Party Parliamentary Groups that reflect his passions and interests in business, skills, communities and sport.

His manifesto for the Liverpool City region is built around the headings ‘ambitious, green, fair, connected, together’ and his vision is driven by a sense of fairness, social justice and inclusion.
