Kevin Nix, Former Managing Director, Generation UK, RWE Generation UK plc
Up until January 2017 Kevin was the Director responsible for the operation of RWE Generation UK’s power station fleet, totalling some 9,000 MW of plant, together with all the technical services that support plant operations and development. Kevin is also a Director of the RWE Generation UK plc.
Kevin has 35 years’ experience within the power generation industry, initially with CEGB and later, National Power, Innogy and RWE npower. He has experience in operations, engineering and business development. He has delivered a number of major projects targeted at changing plant and people to enable both to meet the challenges of operation in an increasingly competitive environment.
Kevin’s management roles have included Engineering Manager at Didcot A Power Station (2000MW coal fired power station) and Station Manager at Little Barford Power Station (700MW CCGT power plant). He spent a period of time on secondment to RWE Power in Germany before taking up the role of Operations Director of UK Power Stations in 2005. With the creation of RWE Generation UK plc in January 2013, Kevin became Managing Director of Generation UK.
Kevin holds a PhD in Metallurgy from the Imperial College of Science, London, is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining and is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng).
