Kate Kennally, Chief Executive, Cornwall Council
Kate joined Cornwall Council in January 2016 as Chief Executive from the London Borough of Barnet where she had been working for the last 10 years. With over 25 years’ experience of public service through employment in the NHS, the voluntary and community sector as well as a number of Local Authorities, Kate’s focus has been about joining up public services to make a real difference for residents through reshaping commissioning and delivery of services to focus on outcomes. Kate led the work in Barnet to create a new innovative Commissioning Council model, which saw significant increases in resident satisfaction as well as ensuring core council services were effective and affordable. With a background in people services, having been both a Director of Adult Services and a Director of Children’s Services, Kate is passionate about improving the life chances of more disadvantaged groups through economic growth and development and through empowering communities and families to be more involved in the delivery of public services. Kate is married with two children, one studying town planning and the other studying at college in Cornwall.
