Chris Miles, Business Development Director, Anesco Limited
Chris is responsible for leading the development of new business areas within Anesco. He recently joined from Renewable Energy Systems (RES), where he helped develop energy storage, “subsidy free” renewables and led a review into future energy market options.
Following a succession of international engineering and business leadership roles in the oil and chemical industries, Chris moved into the renewable energy sector in 2005 when he bought into Econergy, a biomass heat supplier. He led the sale of Econergy to British Gas (BG) a few years later and merged this with an acquired heat pump business into the BG Renewable Heat business. This grew this rapidly, with a major expansion into district heating. He was a member of the BG Leadership Team, which directed their Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and their Energy Efficiency business. He was a board member of the Renewable Energy Association (REA) from 2006 to 2014. Chris holds a MA in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a MBA from INSEAD in Paris.
As the energy storage market rapidly evolves the technology in the UK still faces significant regulatory issues. The session will address investment case for storage infrastructure in the UK, key sector priorities including integrating commercial storage in the UK’s energy system, current sector developments and opportunities for large capital deployment into storage space.
