Digital telecommunication: ultrafast broadband infrastructure

Ballroom North

The UK Chancellor’s Autumn Statement announced £1 billion of investment in full-fibre broadband and trialling 5G networks via a new Digital Infrastructure Fund.

The Fund which has been setup with around £400 million of public investment does offer an opportunity for private investors and sector developers to match the investment with target figures set to reach £1.5 billion until 2021.

With costs of deploying new networks across the UK estimated at many times greater than £1 billion the major part of investment required would need to come from the private sector.

The session will address the current state of ultrafast broadband infrastructure roll out, opportunities and priorities for investors and private developers to plug the shortfall in its delivery and discuss how the total coverage across the UK can be achieved.
