The UK Government has recently announced £1 billion to invest in full-fibre broadband and trialling 5G networks via a new Digital Infrastructure Fund.
With funding supporting trials of 5G mobile communications the UK local authorities will be able to access £740 million intended to help them trial and roll-out future ultrafast 5G based Mobile Broadband networks.
With 5G standards in the UK not ready until 2017-2018 and the spectrum not fully released until 2020 there has already been a great deal of successful trialing taking place in the UK in places like Bristol.
With 5G being able to change the landscape and shape of UK infrastructure in cities and across the country this infrastructure investment space offers an interesting opportunity to private and institutional investors.
The session will address the changing landscape of 5G in the UK and its impact on cities, its infrastructure networks and IoT, the role investors have played in the mobile network space so far and how private investment can capitalise on further opportunities created.
